This was by far the busiest week of the year. First of all I was 'volunteerd' to do the graduation cake for my daughter's school. They asked me to copy the cake of last year, but since I was doing it for free I asked for free reign on creativity. So much fun to make this cake. Developing the idea as I went, it turned out to be a big succes. The kids were lining up to have a piece. No leftovers there!
Lots of cupcakes this week.
I was lucky I didn't have to decorate all the cupcakes I baked. The girls in the Super Swirls cupcake decorating workshop this Saturday did an amazing job with their swirls and decorations, assisted by the talented Caroline!

White cupcake tower by Wild sugar Rose
Cupcakes, cupcakes, cupcakes. At one point in time, the whole kitchen was taken over by steaming hot cupcakes and bowls full of icing. Andrea asked for a white design with a hint of silver.Delivered to a beautiful location looking out over the sunset coast in Swanbourne, Perth.

A weekend full of cakes
This weekend I was lucky enough to go to our friends Daniel and Maxine's wedding. For a change I was a guest and got to enjoy the whole celebration, without any stress about 'the cake'. The ceremony was a beautiful church ceremony and the reception was classy and full of all the little 'traditions'. A four-tier beautiful cake was the centrepiece of the bridal table (and tasted good too!).
Now for my cakes.... This weekend saw a gorgeous wedding cake for Donna's wedding. An ABFAB design with extended tiers, ribbon, bling and piped details.
Leah celebrated her 21st birthday in style with a Masquerade ball cake in her colour scheme. I enjoyed making this cake!

Wedding cakes and cupcakes
A busy weekend. Firstly a great thank you to Caroline from Angelcake Creations, who is teaching our workshops now my belly is too big to stand up for long. She had a ball with the girls at the Super Swirls workshop this Saturday.
Melissa's wedding was at the romantic Bridgeleigh reception centre in Wanneroo. It was a beautiful dinner setting in a cosy room. The staff were great, definitely a place that I would like to visit again.
On Sunday morning I had a red carpet reception (literally!) at Macy and Spencer's birthday party. The theme was Wiggles and Wedding, celebrated with cupcakes. I had so much fun making them!

Flower Fairy Cake for Laura
Laura's 4th birthday party! Can't believe she is 4 already. Although it was her party, it felt like it was mine as well. Celebrating 4 years of being a great mum. Ofcourse a pretty cake for her, made using Debbie Brown's design for the Flower Fairy Cake.

Roses and Cherry cupcakes
These cupcakes were destined for something great. They were part of a wedding reception in the amazing East End Bar & Lounge in Fremantle. A vintage style plush red bar & lounge, just gorgeous. The cupcakes were red velvet with cream cheese icing and a cherry on top and chocolate mudcake cupcakes with chocolate buttercream and chocolate fondant with a red rose.

Cupcake Weekend
The main theme of this weekend was cupcakes. I baked a record number of nearly 200. Thankfully I had help decorating - the lovely ladies of the Super Swirls workshop were naturals in making the most beautiful cupcake swirls. Ofcourse they got to take their cupcakes home to show their family and friends. These cupcakes were made and photographed by Vanessa Hollis.
Last but certainly not least a cupcake tower! The only directions I was given were: there will be 70 people and the theme is Jungle - go for it. I had the freedom to decorate my heart out. Since it was for a gorgeous little girl's first birthday, I decided to keep the theme very sweet and cute.
More cupcakes for a 40th Birthday, pink and stylish.

A busy weekend with 50 mini-cupcakes in an Animal Farm theme. These little buggers were deceptively time-consuming to make! The wedding cake was a joy, not the candy pink I have been working with lately, but a refreshing pinkish orange. I could not lift it, it was so heavy. Luckily my delivery driver is very strong!!

Crazy cake weekend
What a crazy cake weekend it was. On Saturday I met 5 lovely ladies for a private Super Swirls cupcake decorating workshop. On Sunday I delivered 80 cupcakes for a beautiful Christening and had to part with my pet project for the week: a birthday cake for a young nurse. Loved making this one!

Roses and Pearls cake
A quick cake for my MIL's birthday. I can't take all the credit for it, my 3-year old daughter helped me a lot (as it was a family cake). She helped me bake, ganache, cover and decorate! I'm so proud!

Giggle and Hoot cake
I was asked to make Hoot from ABC's Giggle and Hoot for a first birthday party, covered in buttercream instead of fondant. I don't normally do buttercream covered cakes, in fact I haven't made many 3D novelty cakes either, but took the challenge! Three tiers of cake, filled with ganache and covered in buttercream with fondant accents. How cool is our little (or should I say BIG) Hoot!

Wedding in spring
I had the pleasure of making this gorgeous wedding cake this week. Two tiers of decadent chocolate mudcake covered in ivory icing and decorated with fantasy flowers in shades of pink. Isn't it romantic!

Perth Royal Show cupcakes
These cuties were my entry for this year's Perth Royal Show. For some reason it is not allowed to have cupcake papers on, so that's why they may look a little bare at the bottom! I just love the hot-pink and green colour combination.
When I took them to the show I caught a glimpse of all the amazing entries for the cake decorating section. This year is really really good. Can't wait to have a proper look next week.

Cherry blossom engagement cake
I really enjoyed making this engagement cake. It is a classic design that I've always wanted to do. Isn't it romantic? The cake is a beautiful sparkly citrus white chocolate mudcake with white chocolate ganache. All the best to Lauren and Brad.

Cupcake decorating workshop 11 September
Yesterday Wild sugar Rose organised another cupcake decorating workshop. The students were amazing, what a talent. Some got the hang of it straight away, others after a few tips and tricks. It was a nice and chatty bunch and kept me on my toes with their questions. Luckily, Caroline from Angelcake Creations was there to support me. She will start teaching the workshops from November onwards, when I have to start taking it easier due to my ever growing belly. The end results were beautiful and all so different!
Now I really have to go out and have a cupcake at Sherbert's, which was recommended by nearly everyone!

Cupcake decorating workshop
Today's workshop Cupcake delights - Super swirls was all about swirling that icing. I saw some gorgeous ruffles, beautiful roses and delicious soft serve swirls amongst others. It was great to see how everyone got super excited when it was time to get creative and do the 'real thing' on the cupcakes, including cute and yummy decorations.
Can't wait to do it again next week!

Amazing cakes
I had the pleasure of making two amazing cakes in the last couple of weeks. The first was a 1920's theme, with lots of feathers, pearls and loopy ribbon, finished off with a beautiful rose.
The second one was a Gothic Castle for a Friday the 13th party. So much fun to make! It is a 2-tier version of a beautiful Gothic Wedding Cake by Venus Cakes.

Wedding cake samples
Samples for an upcoming wedding. Pink flowers on ivory.
Looks like I'm pretty much fully booked for the year now! I cannot believe how this small business has taken off. I am mostly surprised by the popularity of cupcakes and the fun I have making these beautiful little treats.
See you around,
Madeleine

Lots of cakes and cupcakes
My favourite cakes of the last month: 1. Blue cupcakes with a beautiful shaded blossom and the name of each guest on the cupcake; 2. Lucie's wedding cake with cream roses; 3. Modern christening cake with another design from Andrea's Sweetcakes; 4. Fashion cupcakes for girls; 5. Surf themed birthday cake.
Stay tuned for more fun cakes in the next couple of weeks.

It was great to see my cupcakes in action! My little niece's 4th birthday party on a beautiful winter's day.

Box cakes and cupcake puppy dogs
All good things come in multiples! This week saw two box cakes. The first one a pretty 'spotty' box in Candy Pink and Red Apple colours for a first birthday. The second one was very special....because it is NOT a cake! The birthday girl will smash the white chocolate shell with a hammer to reveal all sorts of delicious sweets.
To finish off two cute cupcake puppy dogs. They are placed on a split board, so that they are seperate but still together.

Wedding cake with blossoms
Talking about opposites. This week I made two cakes: one a tough, transformers birthday cake; the other one a pretty wedding cake with simple blossoms.
By the way, the wedding cake is not real, it is a display cake for our studio.

Busy days for Wild sugar Rose
Busy days for Wild sugar Rose. The first cake this week was a Teddybear on Blue for a baby boy's Christening. The design was inspired by Andrea's SweetCakes, who has made many beautiful Christening cakes.
The second cake was for a Masquerade Ball. The instructions were to make it elegant and with the colours black white and emerald green. The mask is completely made out of sugar (gumpaste).
