Cup cake decorating classes

The new cupcake decorating workshops for next year are now listed on our website www.wildsugarrose.com.au

I love teaching classes. Last year I got to meet so many nice girls (and a few guys too!) that were all cupcake crazy like me. Some participants come to polish their skills, some to have some me-time, some discover a new passion. Some of the workshops are quiet and focussed, others are full of laughter. My favourite moment is always towards the end of the workshop when all that we have been creating finally comes together in a set of gorgeous cupcakes - without exception.

I can't wait to start with a series of brand new classes in the next year. In February and March there will be figurine modelling, flower cupcakes and vintage designer cupcakes (like the ones above). If you are in Perth, join us for a cupcake decorating workshop.

Cupcake tower in aqua

I know I know, I haven't been updating the blog regularly. That's what you get when you spend too much time on Facebook ;) My last post was a wedding at the Joondalup resort in winter, so I think it is fit that we continue with the same venue, but now in spring-summer! Last weekend I made 130 aqua cupcakes and a gorgeous blinged up cutting cake for Amy and Chris. Here you see the cake at the venue.

Wedding cake at the Joondalup Resort

A winter-wedding theme for Tash & Jeff. The room at the Joondalup Resort was beautifully set up in white and blue. My first wedding cake after my maternity leave and it reminded me again why I do cakes. I just really love going to the wedding venues to see the rooms perfectly decorated with noone around.
Love everything about this cake. I was asked to create a beautiful and fun 30th birthday cake. I love it when I get creative freedom. This was so much fun to make!

Gabriella's birthday cake

My gorgeous niece Gabriella turned 5 this year. We had a wonderful oldfashioned party where the kids ran amock and the adults sat around and ate yummy food! Loved it!

Lily's first birthday and Christening

A pretty pink cake for Lily's first birthday and Christening with matching cupcakes.

Beautiful cupcakes & cakes

This is my first official week back from maternity leave. I have been flat out. I think all my creativity had bottled up in the last 6 months and came out with a big explosion. This was the result (and I haven't even taken photos of all the cupcakes I've made!):
Ladybugs for a friend that needed to give a very special gift.
I love this cherryblossom design. It is so sweet and romantic and fun to make too.

Alice in wonderland cupcakes for a Madhatter Morning Tea.
Mario cupcakes for a birthday party. Made with Debbie does Cakes cupcakes as example. Yep, Debbie is one of the most amazing 3D cake decorators. Not an easy task to replicate her cupcakes!
Paris inspired cupcakes for the sweet girls & guys from my hubbies office.

My mum's birthday cake. This cake travelled all the way to the Netherlands to be shared with the rest of my family. It felt great to be able to give such a personal gift.

Cake decorating classes with Handi

When I heard earlier this year that Handi from Handi's Cakes was coming to Perth I couldn't believe my luck. Handi is only one of the best cake decorators in Australia... (he has just won the Cake Decorator of the Year award by the National Baking Industry Association). I met him a few years ago at a course when he was still working for Planet Cake in Sydney. But with two kids it is just harder to jetset to the other side of the country.

I spent a full week with Handi perfecting my techniques in Sugar Flowers and Royal Icing, finishing with our masterpiece: the Double Barrel. Lots of cake, kilos of chocolate ganache to smooth, huge amounts of icing to knead and roll. By the time we had to do the finer work of royal icing brush embroidery we were all super tired.

But it was worth it. Can't wait till he comes back in October.

Cupcake decorating classes

I know I am supposed to have a well-deserved break from work to take care of my newborn baby Victor. But during those sleepless nights walking up and down the loungeroom, I have had plenty of time to think about ideas for Wild sugar Rose's workshops. Okay, I admit, the ideas are not entirely my own, I have had many requests for themes during last years workshops and I have chosen the most popular ones for our new workshops starting in July.

If you like our new themes: Stunning Swirls, High Tea Roses, Fairy Princess, Fabulous Fashion or Jungle Animals join us for some great cupcake fun. All the details are on the website www.wildsugarrose.com.au/classes  I can't wait to meet you all there!

A new website for Wild sugar Rose

A new year, a fresh start. Wild sugar Rose's website has had quite a makeover. With a new professional logo by Style me Gorgeous and a new look we hope to bring bigger and better things this year.

We are working hard on the designs for our new workshops starting in July. The details should be on the website early April. Until the end of June we are still on maternity leave, but from the 1st of July we are back in action and ready for classes and cake and cupcake orders.

Have a look at our new and improved website!

Victor Tiger Farias

It has been a bit quiet in Wild sugar Roses kitchen.... The last two months have been all about enjoying the beach with my daughter during her school holidays and hanging out on the couch because I was soooooo tired. On Australia Day the time of relaxing ended abrubtly with the birth of our son Victor Tiger.

We're so happy (even though I'm at a loss what to do with a boy?!!). He is a gorgeous big boy, who loves to sleep and drink his milk.

As for the cakes...we will start cake orders and workshops again from July 2011, after a much needed maternity leave. I am taking bookings for (wedding) cakes for July onwards, so if you want to get in, book an appointment now.

Lots of love from Madeleine
