Giggle and Hoot cake

I was asked to make Hoot from ABC's Giggle and Hoot for a first birthday party, covered in buttercream instead of fondant. I don't normally do buttercream covered cakes, in fact I haven't made many 3D novelty cakes either, but took the challenge! Three tiers of cake, filled with ganache and covered in buttercream with fondant accents. How cool is our little (or should I say BIG) Hoot!

  3. Hi, I used a large bowl and an 8" round for the top, a small bowl for the bottom. (I baked the cakes in the bowls, but you can bake round cakes and carve them). So basically it was a 3 tiered cake. I used a central dowel to keep this top-heavy cake in place.
    Have fun making it!
